Bishop’s Stortford Sinfonia is partnering with Bishop’s Stortford College and schools across Hertfordshire and the surrounding area to offer an opportunity for young musicians to come spend a day learning and performing along-side local professional musicians. This is an initiative led by the Sinfonia and part of our engagement with the local community to help spread awareness and enjoyment of music, to people of all ages.

On 10th May the combined Sinfonia and student orchestra (with students being allocated based on proficiency level) will be performing the following programme.

  • Carmen Suite arr. Richard Meyer (from Grade 3 and up)
  • Berceuse from Dolly Suite by Gabriel Faure (from Grade 6 and up)
  • Tubby the Tuba by George Kleinsinger (from Grade 7 and up)

Rehearsal and Concert details

Rehearsals will take place at Bishop’s Stortford College on Saturday 10th May, timings are below:

  • Rehearsal Schedule
    • 9:30-11:00 – Tubby Full Rehearsal (Grade 7 & 8 students)
    • 11:00-11:15 – Break, split for sectionals
    • 11:15-12:15 – Tubby Sectionals
    • 12:15-13:00 – Lunch (Grade 3-6 students arrive)
    • 13:00-14:00 – Sectionals
    • 14:00-14:15 – Break
    • 14:15-15:15 – Full rehearsal (all students)
  • Concert starts 16:00.
