Bishop’s Stortford Sinfonia takes great pride in bringing professional standard concerts to Hertfordshire. Drawing from the core of excellent professional and semi-professional musicians living in the Bishop’s Stortford area, the orchestra now attracts musicians from across country to join its concerts.
The operating costs of the orchestra are considerable, including venue hire, music hire, publicity, minimal expenses, and modest compensation for musicians (well below professional rates). As a local orchestra and as a charity we depend on the support of the local community to help us continue to operate.
If you are interested in supporting the orchestra beyond coming to our concerts, we have several options to consider including volunteering, sponsorship or being a member of our friends scheme.
Bishop’s Stortford Sinfonia Friends Scheme
Our Friends scheme offers two levels of support suitable for couples or individuals. All funds for the orchestra will be used for the general operation of the orchestra.

- Includes 2 complimentary tickets to use over the current season.
- Listed as a Friend of the Sinfonia on the website and in concert programmes.
- Subscription to the BSS Newsletter.
- Annual subscription of £14 membership fee, £36 donation*
- Annual donation of £150+
- Includes 6 complimentary tickets to use over the current season
- Invitation to join an open rehearsal of the orchestra on the day of the concert
- Listed as a Patron of the orchestra on the website and programmes
- Subscription to the BSS Newsletter
- Annual subscription of £28 membership fee, £122 donation*
Friends Scheme via Bank Transfer

Volunteering
The Sinfonia is run by its players and is always looking for locals who would be willing to help us on concert days with taking tickets at the door and serving refreshments in the interval.
